Meet the thirty9 Photographer
After a friend showed Matthew an HDR (High Dynamic Range) photograph in 2009, he knew he wanted to know more about creating HDR photography. He carried his interest, then love, of HDR into the gritty, urban cityscapes and architectural composite photographs that make up much of Matthew’s portfolio, often resulting in images formed from everything his imagination can dream up. “Underneath it all I have a love of architecture, science fiction, and the surreal, which can all be seen throughout my various creations. I enjoy bringing the seemingly impossible to life in my artwork.” One of the ways Matthew finds inspiration for his craft is to observe the reactions of people viewing his work at art shows. Fans are drawn to the vivid and rich colors found in many of his images, especially when printed on metal which enhances the effect. What people might find most interesting about Matthew’s work, however, is looking for the little extra something he likes to blend in, unobvious at first glimpse. “One of the things I like to do is add some sort of element to my work that adds content or almost hidden meaning, that may get overlooked upon the initial glance.” Happy hunting.
