Meet the Artist - Nelson Kenter
Nelson Kenter
"Get outside and explore. Feel what it’s like to experience seeing something that no one else did - and maybe never will. And realize the value of that experience."
~ Nelson Kenter
Nelson began taking black and white Polaroid snapshots as a child on family vacations, and was hooked for life. Capturing memories on film led to a passion for shooting single moments in time. “When it comes down to it, I think that is the beauty of photography, the reason to be out looking for the next unique moment - because it may be one that never happens again.” Nelson moved to Montana as a young adult, where the beauty of nature doesn’t tire. He finds himself drawn to so much of the what Big Sky Country has to offer, from the grandness of the mountains down to the veins of an aspen leaf backlit by morning sunlight. “I love the challenge of waiting for the exact timing of lighting, the perfect movement of wildlife, weather patterns and water flow to combine for the perfect shot. It’s in those moments that you are closest to nature.” Much of Nelson’s photography takes place on land that has been preserved in its natural state and he hopes the people who view his his images can see the value of maintaining these wild places for future generations. “Get outside and explore. And realize the value of that experience. Next time you hear a conversation about open public lands, share your thoughts on the opportunities they provide.”
